Ready for the ride of your life?

Sometimes you’ve got to have the right gear for the job. Especially when it’s an exhilarating ice drive from behind the wheel of a Jaguar or Land Rover! We’ve just received these jackets from Monogram Team Wear who supply them for Scandinavian ice drive adventures. These three day excursions take place on the edge of the Arctic circle, and allow those taking part to take some thrilling drives in luxury cars on frozen lakes and snow tracks. The key is to keep warm, and there is no doubt this jackets will do the job.

Our job, albeit it not as exciting as learning how to power slide on icy lakes, is to get these jackets in tip top condition before they are worn. As well as our local customers, we look after corporate clients. If you’d like to know more about the services we can offer to businesses, call Ian Reid on: 07778777716

We’ll be taking a few days off from beautifying your clothes to eat some chocolate! #chocolatelovers

We’re closed on Good Friday, Saturday 20th, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. Open as usual on Tuesday 23rd April.

Why use us? We’ve got 5 good reasons!

It’s Wednesday.

Hump day for some, but for us it’s the day we like to impart some dry cleaning wisdom.

Today, we answer the question: why come to Reids of Henley for your specialist clothes cleaning?

Here’s 5 good reasons!
1) Dry cleaning protects the colour and brightness of your clothes – as well as being gentle too.

2) It’s all in the name, but no water is used so dry cleaning won’t run colours and shrink fabric.

3) We’re masters of science and use pretty complex procedures and super special stain removal chemicals.

4) We specialise in odour removal using a magic ozone cupboard.

5) We can ‘deep clean’ really tough stains. We can (to the best of our ability) dissolve the grease and oil your washing machine can’t.

2019 Trends to keep clean

One of the brilliant things about our job is keeping in the ‘fashion-know’ thanks to our trendy customers! #wecleanclothesforatownthatlovetowearthem

Looking to this year’s trends, here are a few of the styles we hope to clean for you in 2019:

OVERSIZED HATS: Jacquemus started the trend for ginormous hats (do an Insta-search) and now other brands want in on the action. We can’t think of anything more perfect for Henley Royal Regatta and Marlow Town Regatta Festival. We can spot clean them post-fun.

TIGHT PLEATS: Tighter than ever before – the micro pleat provides maximum impact as it generates not only more movement but also a more fluctuating silhouette as it expands and contracts. Science-y, eh? Don’t be put off by the extra ironing, we’re experts at pressing pleats. :

SUMMER WATERPROOFS: Last Summer was glorious, but when it rained, boy, did it rain! We offer re-proofing, because you can never be too prepared.

PUFFED SHOULDERS: Often gathered at the shoulder with pleats of elastic, this variation of the shoulder pad requires maximum volume – which we can restore for you, wear-after-wear.

SEQUINS: Have sequins ever *not* been on trend? Save your washing machine and your delicate sequin and beaded garments – bring them to us for an ozone clean instead.

Whiter than Wimbledon white!

“Tennis uses the language of life. Advantage, service, fault, break, love – the basic elements of tennis are those of everyday existence, because every match is a life in minature.” Andre Agassi 🎾

At Reids of Henley we concentrate on getting your Wimbledon whites, white!

DATES: Friday 30th March | Saturday 31st March | Monday 2nd March | Sunday closed as normal.

We were going to tell you a joke about an egg, but it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Ha!

Ladies, treat yourself this Mother’s Day

Brace yourself for the most maritally divisive piece of news you’ll hear all week: married women do more housework than their husbands. Analysis by the Institute for Public Policy Research thinktank shows that eight out of 10 married women do more household chores, while just one in 10 married men does an equal amount of cleaning and washing as his wife.
Now that we’ve set the cat amongst the pigeons, how about we suggest an alternative. This Mother’s Day, why not ask for a Reids of Henley Gift VoucherA guilt-free break from the housework, courtesy of the humans (and pets) who tend to make ALL the mess in the first place!
Our pleasure!

25% off ALL Home Fabrics at Reids in Marlow

You know that awesome offer we were running?

Well, it was due to expire on Friday 23rd February, BUT… because of the power cut that has left the Marlow Shop in total darkness this week (and the traffic chaos on West Street caused by temporary lights) we’re extending the 25% off curtains, cushion covers, sofa covers, rugs, etc for one more week! Whoop!

What a brilliant opportunity to have an early Spring Clean!

Ski wear. Sorted.

We’re thoroughly enjoying the Skeleton, Curling, Biathlon and all the other weird and wonderful Snow-based sports at this year’s Olympics. We joyously whooped when Lizzy Yarnold took gold for GB 🇬🇧 🥇 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

If you’re returning from your 🎿 hols don’t forget to drop your gear into the Henley or Marlow shop. We clean, re-proof, refresh and package it up so you’re all ready for next year’s snow shenanigans  ❄️

The History of Reids est. 1945

The Reid family have been in the drycleaning business since 1945 and Reids of Henley is now owned and run in its present form by the third generation of the family, Ian Reid. This year they celebrate their 25th year at their Reading Road site in the picturesque riverside town of Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire serving the well-heeled Henley community with their impeccable level of service and attention to detail.

Garment care and cleaning has been at the heart of the Reid family for years. Ian’s grandmother, Violet, worked in a military uniform factory as a garment finisher. His grandparents met when they worked in drycleaning shops in outer London, and then ran Warwick Drycleaners in Henley during the 60s and 70s.

Ian’s father, Joe followed in his father’s footsteps running drycleaning units in Ruislip and Barnet. This is where he met Kay, Ian’s mother. Kay and Joe opened their first shop together, Quality Cleaners in Chinnor, Buckinghamshire in 1981, where they continued to look after Henley clients through a collection and delivery service. Both his sisters also run drycleaning shops.

It’s pretty fair to say that the Reid family understand the drycleaning business. Ian has worked in the family business for as long as he can remember – Saturday boy and school holidays. When he was 18 the opportunity came up for the new Reading Road premises in Henley. The family had serviced the area for years so knew that the potential of locating there was good. Reid had to make the decision to either pursue his ambitions for accountancy or choose to join the family business. He chose drycleaning and has never looked back.
